    Submission of Project Plan

The Project Plan with the conclusions reached in this group has been submitted. You can see the complete document on the right side of this page.

    Milestone: Final project plan

    October 2018

    Further updates

At a meeting between facilitators Poppy Frater and Kerry Allison, and the group members in October, the following actions were identified:
    - Website improvement – clear call to action, make more intuitive and visual
    - Social media
    - CRM database management in compliance with data protection regulation.

The group also started to formulate a value proposition statement and looked for gaps between customer pain points and buying behaviour that the group might seek to address, which led to some fantastic innovative ideas (to be reported on soon - the group is now finalising the project plan and marketing report to follow the meeting). The group is also considering ways to hire in marketing expertise to drive it all forward.

    Milestone: Gathering of views

    August 2018

    Further developments

Poppy Frater will hand over much of the facilitation of this group to Kerry Allison, a marketing specialist consultant for SAC Consulting, who will prepare some options before the next group meeting on 19-20 September.

    Milestone: Group meeting

    June 2018

    Group meeting

On this group meeting, it was decided that the group will focus on marketing and hire an external agent to support a marketing strategy for their breeding stock. Before reaching that stage, the farmers will need to define their product as a group (e.g. low labour, low cost, high health, maternal genetics, etc) and define their customer.

The next meeting will be held on September 19-20th at Harper Adams University to tie in with a facility tour and hear from the researchers. Paul Mayfield from SRUC Food and Drink department has been asked to join the group to help refine the marketing strategy.

    Milestone: Group meeting

    March 2018

    Launch meeting

At the first group meeting, Poppy Frater (sheep specialist and group facilitator) delivered a presentation followed by a more detailed discussion about RISS with the group. A proposed scheme of work was presented with positive feedback.

    The next steps are:
    - The group members have a few days to digest the information shared on the launch meeting and ‘sign up’ to the programme.
    - Poppy will then launch a survey monkey to get initial ideas - likely to be a 2 part survey to collect ideas and then vote on them.
    - Planning a meeting to discuss the survey results in June 2018.
