Hop Soil Improvement group

The Hop Soil Improvement Group comprises all 55 British Hop Association members, 15 of whom are at present actively interested in developing practical ways of improving the soil structure of their soils, which are thought to be at risk of long term decline. Some grow only hops, though more commonly hops are just one enterprise in a mixed farming enterprise, often alongside fruit, or in some instances cereals and livestock as well.

There is a high level of technical expertise within the group, from the BHA and Hutchinsons Ltd, supported by researchers from NiAB East Malling who have a soil science and crop health background.

This group is sponsored by Charles Faram Hop Factors & Merchants.

Group Topic

Improving our soils
