Come and join us at Westfield Farm on Tuesday, 14th July to explore the Scotland Bean Variety Trial Field Lab, learn about different bean varieties and their growth in our local climate!
In this Innovative Farmers field lab, five arable farmers are trialling different bean varieties to find out which are best suited to Scottish growing conditions. The trialists are keen to find an alternative break crop to oilseed rape, which is increasingly suffering from pest and disease pressures including clubroot, and to reap the benefits of including a legume in their rotation.
Scotland Bean Variety Trial Field Lab
Join Erin Matlock of PGRO and Stevie Gray of Scottish Agronomy for an exciting morning looking at three different winter bean varieties at Westfield Farm. This is your opportunity to view how beans perform in the Scottish region and bring your questions on general bean agronomics.
This project & field lab has been funded through Innovative Farmers.
